Outstanding: hülsta is awarded the sought-after design prize

The furniture brand hülsta is awarded the “Red Dot” for its excellent design quality. After an evaluation process of more than 5500 entries from 54 nations over several days, a team of 40 jury experts has decided to give the Red Dot Award in the category Product Design to the dining table T 70.

The T 70 has only recently celebrated its premiere at the Cologne furniture fair 2017, where it made a decisive impact with its elegant shape. Another distinc-tive feature of the table is not visible to the naked eye – the clever and sophisti-cated craftsmanship: With a thickness of just 4.6 cm, the table top does not require any reinforcing frames even at its maximum length of three metres. This gives the table a floating appearance.

The elegant and clean design by Martin Ballendat in combination with sophisti-cated craftsmanship has convinced the team of experts consisting of independ-ent designers, design professors and trade journalists. Managing Director Oliver Bialowons is delighted with the award: “This shows once again that we have our finger on the pulse. This special combination of design and high-quality craftsmanship is particularly appreciated on the international stage.”

The “Red Dot” design competition is firmly established worldwide. More than 60 years ago, a jury got together for the first time to assess the best designs of the time. Since then, a team of experts has awarded the quality seal for good design and innovation to the outstanding designs of the year. Professor Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of the Red Dot Award: “The Red Dot winners follow the right design strategy. They have recognised that good design and economic success go hand in hand. The award given by the critical Red Dot jury documents their excellent design quality and is an indicator for their successful design policy.”

The prestigious award ceremony will take place at a gala event in July. It is followed by the after show party ”Designers‘ Night“ where the prize winners celebrate in the midst of all the awarded products in the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen. Over a five-week period, the special exhibition “Design on Stage“ will show the award-winning products of the year as part of the world’s biggest display of contemporary design.
